Engineering has never been the easiest of courses in India. Getting into an engineering college is a lot different from passing the papers and completing the course. Many students fail to clear the tests at a single attempt. There are some students who get into the college but they fail to pass the exams no matter how much they try. This becomes a serious problem for the University concerned.
About 700 engineering students have been given an ultimate warning regarding their attitude towards the exams. In 2007 Gujarat University started the semester wise exams. There were 11 engineering colleges affiliated to the University. These 700 students don’t seem to have any interest in studying. They have been given almost 10 chances and still they have not cleared their papers.
The University board formed a four member committee who had to assess the situation. The committee decided that these students will be given only four more chances to clear their papers. If these students fail to clear their exams by April 2015 then the University will ask them to enroll in the courses once again from the first year. Their current registration will be cancelled and they will have to start fresh.
The University board was getting tired of these students. The performance of these students has been consistently poor. It was a real headache to handle these students. The situation was getting out of hand and the University was forced to take steps against these students. A decision had to be made and hence the committee was formed to decide what should be done with these students.
These students have been trying for years. The university has been very lenient with them. The University went to the extent where they decided that every student who made an attempt to clear the exams will be promoted. These students still have not managed to do anything with their results or their lives. These are all students from the first batch that passed out in 2011.
Since then these students have been given several chances and there has been no change. It was a matter of time before the University finally ran out of patience. They don’t seem to ever prepare for their exams. Desperate times called for desperate measures and now these students have no other option left. Either they have to clear their papers or they will have to start from the beginning.
The University was livid with the attitude of these students towards their education. If they were not interested in engineering then they should have joined somewhere else. The university officials said this. Even when the university made easy papers to get them through the course these students came unprepared and did not make an attempt to pass. Some of them even went to the extent of writing poems, songs and stories in their papers instead of answers. This had to be stopped as the University was being constantly humiliated.
