The central board or CBSE board has decided to check on the internal assessment marks to ensure that the marking is fair. They want to make sure the students are treated fairly by the schools. They are on the lookout for EA marks. This is done mainly for students of class 9 and 10. The board is looking forward to collecting the EA marks for formative assessments.
Under the CCE scheme of CBSE the assessments of the students are done in two different ways. Firstly the formative method that include practical and projects. The other method is the summative method that includes the theory format. The board is collecting the marks for subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Hindi.
The director of the board wrote to the different schools saying that the EA assessment system was to ensure that students are guided properly in the correct direction. This was the key to a successful education system in the long run. This will help a lot in the development in the skills of the students as well as personality development. The board is doing its part to remove the flaws in the current education system in India.
Under the board schools are selected randomly. Any school can be selected. In this way 15 different schools are selected by the regional office. Then these different schools are asked to send a sample of 15 answer sheets for the evaluation. The sheets are divided into three categories, highest, lowest and middle. All these sheets together form the EA evaluation. The answer sheets must be of all the different subjects.
The EA and the various marks are then checked by the officials who have been selected by the board. The details of the schools that had sent their papers will then be put up on the website of the board. The director of the board said that the objective of this particular evaluation was to check on the assessment process of the schools.
The subject officials would then give reports in the form of marks. This report helps to evaluate the assessment levels of a school. It also helps in taking future decisions of the board. The report also lays down the basis of feedback for the board. If the method is successful then this could also be applied to the root level of education. It also helps to implement on better education methods that the school can create for the future students.
For the formative assessments the schools are required to send in all the details about what were the tasks assigned to the students and all other details that will be asked by the regional office. It should include the syllabus of the assignments and the break up marks as well. In case of group discussions, seminars etc the teacher needs to write down a brief description on the event and submit it along with the marks awarded to the students.
