Disabled children are the most insecure ones in the society. Generally, studies say that the disabled children show strange unnatural behavior sometimes. This uncertain behavior makes them deprived from daily activities of a normal child. Normal children often try to stay away from them at schools and playgrounds. This type of situations puts a severe effect on the state of mind of the disabled child. Recently, counseling centers have been opened in several places where the children suffering from ADD i.e. Attention Deficit Disorder, Dyslexia and ADHD i.e. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is treated medically.
Counseling centers study the state of the mind of the child and reacts in that particular way to make the child feel secure and happy internally. The government of India decided to take initiative that apart from the medical associates at counseling centers, the parents and teachers at schools must also get habituated with the behavioral activities of the disabled child. The parents must learn their state of mind, the particulars which irritate them and should show much love and care so that the children do not feel alone and neglected.
Sometimes the parents and teachers deny doing such sessions but it is important to know the basic problems of a disabled child. Nowadays, classes are given to the parents and teachers by the psychiatrists. They say that even now the people in the rural places cannot take these issues with confidence. Jayanta Das, a psychiatrist said that people started to react on this issue practically nowadays. In urban areas, the scenario has changed. Teachers have started to treat the students suffering from Dyslexia, ADD and ADHD differently as per the advices given to them by the psychiatrists.
Although the guardians have started to consult with the psychiatrists and take their wards suffering from disorders to the counseling sessions, still the scenario remains more or less same. Das says that in some places, changes are minimal. Most of the advices are ignored or shorted which creates severe problems. There are many parents refuse to admit that their child is suffering from disorders. A renowned psychiatrist, Sangeeta Dutta said that parents remain in a denial position when their child suffers at the initial stage. Later on, when they come to know from the other classmates and teachers, they are forced to accept the fact.
Dutta who has been counseling several children suffering from ADHD says that most of the children are at the diagnosing level in the primary stage of the problem. If the parents would have looked over the fact seriously, the children could have been cured at the most initial stage of the disorder.
Children suffering from ADHD and ADD finds difficult to adjust with the common environment. Parents ignore this issue and later these children become the victims of mentally disabled problems. Therefore, it is a high time to look into the issues. Parents should know the activities and symptoms of the disorders and teachers must be friendly enough towards these children.
