As a teen ager, when we enter in a college, we have no idea about how it would be. It's a different feeling,coming out of schools & entering a beautiful world of college. Youth are more energetic & fresh with their ideas. Many students fantasize college as a free place where they will fly high & enjoy their freedom as much as they can. It's a big transition in a student's life. You are not just entering college, but moving towards a new stage of life i.e., youth stage, where you'll find yourself covered with en-number of responsibilities.
Firstly you are scared with the feeling that you might get ragged by your seniors or super seniors, & you feel awkward in within a big sized campus, hardly any kind of dress code/uniform, students bunking lectures & sitting in cafeterias. After sometime you get familiar to the environment & acts as the same.
Goal of schools & colleges remains the same that is producing good & skillful students which turns into a successful person one day after leaving their study places but goal of student changes. Many students believe in going to college to attend lectures & to be the favorite of their faculty members, but few students go to college just to be there & to have fun. Fun & enjoyment at college increases, only attendance decreases. No more homework. No more monthly exams criteria, just a free & less studious environment.
Here are few changes which can be seen as you enter in the college for the first time. It can be positive & negative as well:
a. No more supervision: Now you are responsible enough to schedule your studies, your parents hardly asks you to sit & study. You are the one who decides, how to study, much to study & when to study.
b. Responsible in all ways: When you enter a college, new responsibilities adds up to you. You grow old, more responsible towards life, career & also changes the way of doing things from as you use to do when you were in school.
c. Decision making: You are mature enough to make your own decisions now. Its not like that you'll stop involving your parents, but yes you will enhance your own decision making skills by thinking what is right & what's wrong for you.
d. Freedom & Independent: No more dependent on parents. Few kids move to different parts of world to study, just after passing from high school. So they are more independent & self decision maker as well.
e. Undue advantages: It's very obvious that you'll feel different in college as compared to school, you feel more freedom. Few students try to take extra advantage of their freedom. They get involved in illegal practices like drinking, smoking, etc. They stop listening to their parents also.
f. Wrong company: You get along with different kind of students, with different mindsets. Sometimes, you make friends who are in bad habit of doing things wrongly & feel great indulging themselves into wrong practices.
g. How you look: In school, we wear school uniform, no change at all. When you enter a college, every day a new get up, new clothes, you become more concern about your looks, your hair do's & all.
h. Building up new relationships: In a college, we have seen students building new relations, new friends, peer groups & in fact dating.
i. Serious towards career: After college what you need to do is pick a good job & start earning for your own. To achieve your career objective, you study hard as you pass on to final year.
j. More conflicts: In college, every student fights to become a leader of the complete campus. Conflicts increases, attitudinal clashes, different people with different point of views.
k. Self image or kind of show-off: College goers are generally kind of show off, whatever they wear, think, do, all is just to show their status symbol. They are attracted towards the popularity. They try to create their self image & want to be known by each & everyone.
It's a different world at college. You study, have fun with your friends, parties & celebration, freedom, participation in college fests, being everyone's favorite, who doesn't want to be a part of such youthful life. Once you'll pass out your college, becomes degree holders, you won't get back such a life again. So enjoy this beautiful stage of life positively.
