There are various kinds of superstitions which are bringing a lot of problems in the social life of the rural area people in India. There is no doubt about the fact that education is the most powerful weapon to fight against this social curse.
Ill effects of superstition:
In various rural areas a lot of people become victim of various superstitions. In India, a lot of women are burnt or killed by other painful ways because they are thought to be the witches. A lot of people die after being attacked by a snake because they do not get the immediate treatment in the hospital. A lot of ignorant people in the village are deceived by the selfish people. The effect of these superstitions is more painful for the women in the rural society. Overall, these superstitions work as the main hindrance on the path of social and economical development for the people of these rural areas and the situation must be changed.
What is the reason behind it?
People in more numbers in village believe in such superstitions because they don’t have proper education. They do not know various scientific reasons and facts. Therefore, they often believe in various superstitions which are told to them by other selfish people. All these superstitions don’t allow them to spend a normal life but still they follow them because they are frightened that if they don’t maintain all these superstitions, they will have to face lethal consequences.
How education can help:
The light of proper education can only change the scenario. If a person can come to know about the actual truth behind various meaningless superstitions, their fear from the mind will be abolished. Then only, those superstitious people will go against various superstitions which are harmful for human life. Education will help them to understand how to take proper step if a person is suffering from fever or some other skin disease. Superstitions always divert people in the wrong path. Only education can bring them in right way.
Condition in the cities:
In various cities many people are educated but still they maintain various superstitions. It is mainly because they don’t apply their educational knowledge to fight those superstitions. One needs to know that any kind of superstition which can bring problem and pain for another person is worse for the society. Therefore, they should apply the light of knowledge to fight the superstitions so that the next generation can get a better society. If people of cities take this step, the situation of the rural areas will definitely be improved.
Steps by Government:
A lot of government scientific organizations are going to various villages to educate people against various superstitions which they have believed from time immemorial. They take theoretical and practical classes of the villagers. In various schools the proper education is given to fight against superstition. However, some of the the superstitions are deep rooted in the mind of these villagers. So, it will take time to wipe those out completely.
However, there is no doubt about the fact that the light of education is the best weapon which can be used to eradicate different kinds of superstitions from the society.
