It's really common that a parent is hiding his child's fault. This is in general we see at our homes but still this boosts up the kid to perform more notorious activities. If we talk about schools & colleges, the ratio of social promotion has increased which is resulting really negative. Students are socially promoted with the wrong facts in their mind that they deserved this further promotion.
Social promotion is an act of promoting a child to next grade, even though he didn't perform that well to deserve promoting to the next cadre. With the minimum competencies, student is being transferred to next grade which results in failure in future. This is not just in India; we can find this in many parts of the world. The unwanted social promotion gives a thought to the student that he is good in practical ways & can solve any problem which comes in front. And when the situation comes he is unable to face it as he never proved himself before how to tackle it successfully. These kinds of students become negatively confident. It's injustice to the students. Teachers & educational institutes are supposed to show them the real & right path.
The same issue can be easily seen in government schools where a school just focuses on the ratio of the students passed. Doesn't matter to them whether a student is scoring really badly or good, they promote him to the next level. He might not even know how to read properly but still gets promoted to higher level. This results in failure in further grades because student was incompetent in his previous grades. Schools have their own personal motive behind socially promoting to the students i.e., retention of the students. Because if a student is getting failed in a grade for twice, he is being expelled from the school. That is the situation what schools wants to skip by socially promoting weak students.
Social promotion resulting in following negative issues:
a. Social promotion leads to the chances of failure In the future.
b. Student will lack the desired competency skills.
c. Social promotion results in bad workforce as they are not practically sound still acting as liability to the firm.
d. Social promotion gives wrong perception to students about how skillful they are.
e. Social promotion leads to hypertension to the students as they realize that they are incapable of performing the task which they were thinking of completing very easily.
f. This will result in immaturity.
g. Social promotion stops the student from putting efforts, etc.
We need to remove this act from the educational institutes as they are responsible for the student's future. A student learns from a school, takes the degree from college & looks forward to have a good job to be successful in life. Yes, this is definitely possible but only if he is not being misguided in between.
