India has seen a magnanimous soar in students opting engineering courses in the last few decades. With a number of public as well as private institutes sprouting all over India, technical courses have got a good kick and have gained momentum across the whole country. Though engineering courses offer better job prospects but the education is quite costly and a number of students hall back for the want of monetary aid. For the purpose of helping out deserving students, there are a number of Government/Private scholarships that can be availed according to your eligibility.
MOMA (Merit cum Means Scholarship for Engineering Students):
This is one of the most extensively availed scholarship by Engineering students in India. The Ministry of Minority affairs offers scholarships to students who belong to minority communities such as Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Zoroastrians. For students studying in selected institutes such as IITs and NITs are given full compensation of their course fee. Students studying in institutes other that these colleges are offered an amount of Rs 25,000 as the scholarship amount. IOCL Scholarship 2016- Indian Oil Educational Scholarship-
IOCL offers scholarships to engineering students on the basis of merit-cum-means basis. Under this scholarship, students get a monthly stipend of Rs 3000 for pursuing a professional course such as Engineering. IOCL also offers scholarships to school students, Sports persons, ITI students, MBBS and MBA students.
ONGC Scholarship 2016 for SC/ST Students-
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India imparts scholarships to SC and ST students pursuing professional courses across the nation. The rate of this scholarship is Rs 48,000 and is imparted annually to the selected students. Total 500 scholarships are issued by the corporation every year and there is a reservation for girls amounting to 50% of the scholarships as a step towards motivating female students to take engineering or related professional courses. LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship-
Students pursuing bachelor degrees in technical courses can apply for this scholarship. LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship for the year 2016 will provide an opportunity to deserving students coming from economically weaker backgrounds to pursue further studies. Selected students under the same will be awarded Rs 10,000 annually for the subsequent years of their studies. There is an eligibility criterion which states that only the students who passed their XII or its equivalent in the year 2015-16 are eligible for applying.
NTPC Scholarship-
NTPC offers scholarships for SC/ST and PH (Physically Handicapped) students pursuing technical courses across the country. Students in their second year of the technical course are eligible to apply for the same. The rate of the scholarship is Rs 1000 per month for the complete year.
