What’s the pathway of education?
We go to schools to study few things about different subjects and facts of science and how the world is going on. We learn about our ancient past and reasons of our evolution as per theories and experiments in school. We learn languages, mathematical theorems, formulae, explanations of being things how they are right now. But sometimes I worry, is this the way the education should go? Well many people doubt on the system that is followed by all, but if it’s not, why are we following it? Is the motive of education being fulfilled with this kind of education system?
Let’s focus on these modules separately:
- We learn LANGUAGE: Since it’s the way of communication.
- We learn SCIENCE: to learn facts and to learn questioning.
- We learn HISTORY: to know the attempts and failure we’ve already made.
- We learn MATH: to explore our curiosity in accurate means.
- We learn MORAL EDUCATION: to develop a personality who is worth a thing.
In this regards we are going good in a way of learning things and facts, so what’s wrong with it?
It’s our view towards it that is wrong. As explained above we study science to learn questioning, facts are just in helping terms where we don’t usually focus on memorizing these but thinking on these. We don’t need to learn this school education as the part of lessons we memorize is going to help us if we memorize it. It’s just the helping part that supports the real education in real world. But where we commit a mistake is in understanding the motive of it, and supportive things in it. We now days are going through a tough education process where we don’t really get time to thing upon facts but memorize to write in the exams. Our motive of education is not about passing the exam; it’s about learning things so that you can pass the exam of life.
Unintentionally the procedure of learning things has been driven in wrong direction, but we still need to take care of our life. Life is really not about memorizing lessons it’s about understanding lessons. Things we study should be thought upon in mind. These facts we study in science need to be processed well in brains of students so that they could develop their concepts about similar or new things that they are going to face in their lives.
Well whatever the motive had been, the fact is what we are doing with education is a little out of track and it’s our responsibility to take care of the pathways of education. It’s us who make the world a better place, if we don’t contribute in it, who will?
Einstein said: “education is not about learning of many facts but the training of mind to think.”
So our motive of education should not divert. We are under a training of mind to think when we are under learning process and we should respect it.
