There are many reasons that are responsible for the poor condition of the Indian Education. One reason cannot be responsible for such a big cause. There are many reasons working in collaboration to make sure that the education system keeps degrading. Some of the most prominent reasons are as follows:
This is a big problem in a country like India. The admission process does not look into the merits that a student may bring with him. They have a particular age criteria that must be fulfilled to get into a class. Though this seems foolish the system persists all over the country. Due to the age bar students are often forced to take admission in lower classes than their capabilities making inappropriate competition.
Diversification of boards:
Every single state in the country have own respective education board. This causes a lot of diversification that the students across the country learn. There are two national boards like ICSE and CBSE. The syllabus for every board is different. What causes more problems is the languages also differ a lot from one another. The level of competition is different at all stages.
Privatization of education:
There are too many private institutions that have grown in recent times. This is because there are not enough government schools to cater to the ever increasing population of the country. The private institutions charge a lot of money from the students and do not provide them with the correct education standard. This has led to education becoming the most successful business I the country. This reduces the educational standards and causes the students to degrade.
Every parent wants their child to become an engineer. Some students get through even against their will. A large number of students appear for the exams and some don't even have an intention of studying. This leads to blocking of seats and unwanted competition. Sometimes willing candidates do not get a seat because unwanted candidates are forced into studying the course.
Politics in education:
There is a lot of politics in education. All the government colleges and universities have a council that is run by different political students units. This leads to chaos and unwanted fights within the campus. The demands of the unions have to be met or the college comes to a halt as the union calls for a strike. They meet their demands with force.
Under qualified teaching staff:
Often there is a shortage of teachers because the profession has very less growth chances and the earnings are not enough. This leads to hiring of people who are not qualified enough to become teachers. This causes a lot of damage in the lives of the students.
Lack of infrastructure:
The Indian education system lacks proper infrastructure facilities that are required to provide students with the modern amenities and the latest technology in educational facilities. The infrastructure needs to be upgraded to improve education. Modern labs and recreational facilities must be encouraged to enhance education.
