We would like to welcome all those who have an interest in pharmacy undergraduate education to the first Pharmacy Education Conference in Manchester on 30th June 2014. This conference seeks to bring scientists and pharmacists involved in pharmacy teaching together. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues from other schools, to share good practice and learn about developments in pharmacy education. Attendees, who have an abstract accepted, will have the opportunity to share their experiences via an oral presentation or a poster.
The theme of the conference is integration. We use the term integration in its broadest sense, including integration of science and practice, integration of university and workplace learning, and any other approaches to integration of subject areas, disciplines or teaching methods Integration is obviously important to all schools both now and as we contemplate an integrated five year curriculum. Integration is key to preparing students for their future role and to meeting the requirements of accreditation.
We have plenary sessions with a keynote address from Damian Day, Head of Education and Registration Policy at the General Pharmaceutical Council and a keynote address from Dr Keith Ridge, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, Supporting NHS England, Department of Health and Health Education England. We also plan to have workshops on conducting research in teaching, integration in the UG curriculum and team based learning.
We are inviting colleagues to submit abstracts of no more than 300 words by no later than 31st March. Accepted abstracts can be either presented as an oral presentation or a poster and will be published on the conference website. We would particularly welcome abstracts that focus on.
