The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is headed by the Director General who is also Secretary to the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) of the Government of India. The Deputy Director General who looks after the crop institutes including the Central Rice Research Institute heads crops division of ICAR.
The Institute has links with the Secretary, ICAR for the administrative purposes and the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board for the recruitment of scientific personnel.
CRRI has been given the responsibility of conducting research on all aspects of rice and transfer of technology. The Institute has a Management Committee for deciding the policies and administrative matters. The Director who is also the Chairman of the Management Committee heads the Institute. The Director executes the mandate of the Institute through a Joint Director, Heads of research divisions/sections and a full-fledged administrative setup.
