On Saturday, education minister Suresh Bhardwaj informed the state assembly that more than 15000 teachers (contractual) are working in state-run schools to impart education to the children. He further said that 11,035 teachers are working on the government and Parent Teachers Association-Grant in Aid (PTA-GIA) contract and rest 4,756 teachers are working under Primary Assistant Teachers (PAT) and Parent Teachers Association (PTA) policies.
He further explained that these teachers are appointed under different services but nothing is mentioned about regularizing their services in any of these policies. He said that the government wanted to regularize these teachers and therefore it was said that their salaries will be on par with the regular teachers while presenting the budget on February 9, 2019. He further informed that the matter of regularizing PTA and PTA-GIA teachers is still pending in court.
