To facilitate students and teachers, CBSE launched an
application to provide e-learning materials. It's called E-CBSE; it's a mobile
application for helping students and teachers.
According to an official release, Union Minister for Urban
Development M Venkaiah Naidu and HRD Minister Smriti Irani in the presence of
the CBSE Chairman YSK Seshu Kumar launched this new mobile application.
It said that it's
launched to help student and teacher communities. E-CBSE is a part of ongoing
digital India. It provides various sources for teaching and learning to support
It further added that this will be an addition to the
resources already available to the students provided by NCERT.
The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is one of
the most popular boards for education under the Central Government. Formed in
the year 1962, the CBSE is headed by Vineet Joshi at present, who is an IAS
officer. The board affiliates a number of private schools across the country,
all the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, all the Kendriya Vidyalayas and most
schools run by the Union Government.
CBSE is also responsible for conducting the AIPMT (All India
Pre Medical Test) which is used to fill seats to some of the most well known
medical colleges in the country. CBSE was also responsible for conduction the
AIEEE examination which was given by the candidates to get admissions into
Engineering and Architecture courses in colleges across the country. Since the
year 2014, the onus of conducting the NET exam has also fallen on the CBSE,
making it the world's largest exam conducting body.
