Just as Aadhaar card is mandatory for registering for the exams like JEE and NEET, CBSE has made it mandatory for registering for the UGC NET 2017, which is scheduled to be held sometime in November.
According to the earlier notification, the official notification for the UGC NET 2017 was scheduled to be released on July 24 but due to some odd reasons CBSE did released it on that day.
In a press note all the aspiring applicants of the NET exam were informed by the CBSE that " who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth and gender in the online application for UGC-NET (November) 2017 for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof."
Those who do not have the aadhaar card will be required to fill the enrollment in the application form.
Aadhaar is compulsory for the Indian citizens but the rule is not applicable for the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Megalaya.
“The candidates from these states need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid government identity number provided they should select the city of examination in these states only,” said the note.
The last date for applying for the NEET is August 30 and fee can be paid till August 31.
