We've found PechaKucha to be an interesting way for young professionals to interact with our students. In 20 slides for 20 seconds each you've really got to think and speak clearly in response to visual imagery.”
This time ‘Pecha Kucha’ was organized around the Social Media Entrepreneurs keeping in mind the fact that over the last few years, the potential of the social media based network society has grown by leaps and bounds. The discussions crafted a clear picture of a world where consumers hardly go offline and all identities are global. This explained why increasing number of individuals have taken up the task of investing time, energy and money to launch sustainable online enterprises which have grown by the internet minute.
The speakers threw light on aspects like how a virtual click means real money in today’s scenario and one’s next idea may be worth millions. In the current scenario, the Indian economy needs innovation to grow and succeed, and Facebook is one of the best mediums through which this is being made possible. Dialogues reflected that our society is slowly but surely beginning to become less risk-averse and more willing to accept innovative online startups as ‘real jobs’.
Some criticalities also came to light in the form of questions deep diving into the model that separates online entrepreneurs from the offline ones, what tools the online entrepreneur wields confidently, how do entrepreneurs navigate through entrepreneurial hurdles and achieve the coordination needed to start and run a full-fledged business and how easy or problematic is it to be working for yourself.
