Each year, thousands of students fall prey to the bogus engineering colleges which are running courses without any recognition from the AICTE. In order to avoid such a situation again, the AICTE has released a list of all the colleges in the country that are approved by the Council for the academic year 2016-17.
In all, about 10,360 institutes have been approved by the council. These colleges have been listed under different headings, which are as follows "“

"· Approved institutions with Non Resident Indian(s) (NRI) Quota
"· Approved Institutions with Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/Foreign National (FN)/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries(CIWG) Quota
"· Approved Institutions with Foreign Collaboration/Twining Program
"· Approved Institutions with Progressive Closure of Courses
"· Approved Institutions with Progressive Closure
The AICTE list is for colleges offering different streams. The colleges included in the list are from the following streams "“
1. Architecture and town planning
3. Hotel Management and Catering
4. Engineering and Technology
5. Applied Arts and Craft
The states which have most colleges with proper approval are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. The complete list can be found on the website of AICTE.
