171 Indian Students were awarded by the International Olympiad 2016-17 in which 45 lakh students participated from 25 different countries.
"About 42,000 students from 5,100 schools have achieved top level and state level ranks whereas around 8 lakh students have been awarded with medals of excellence," SOF founder and Director Mahabir Singh said at the award ceremony held here on Sunday.
The awards were given on the basis of performance in the six examinations conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation.Students who managed to secure the number one position were awarded with the cash reward of Rs 50,000 along with a gold medal. Students who secured the second rank were given cash reward of 25,000 along with a silver medal and third rankers were rewarded with Rs 10,000 cash reward along with a bronze medal.
Top 10 principals along with the 50 teachers were also awarded for their exceptional performance.
Every year six different Olympiads are organized by the SOF namely--
- National Cyber Olympiad (NCO), National Science
- Olympiad (NSO), International Mathematics (IMO)
- International English Olympiad (IEO), International
- General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO)
- International Company Secretaries Olympiad (ICSO)
