These are good times for Indian students looking to study abroad. The number of scholarships offered to the Indian students in the UK has been increased to 401. In all, these scholarships are worth Rs 14 crore.
Offered by 57 different UK institutes, these scholarships come under the umbrella of 'GREAT Britain Scholarships' by the British Council. He also added that the Universities in the UK have always encouraged a varied and diverse student base. Students from India would be a great addition to these Universities. He said that "And as far as getting student visa is concerned, anyone who has got admission into a UK university will get a visa," As compared to the 24,000 students from India taking admissions in the UK last year, the British Council hopes to witness a 15% hike in the numbers.
In all, the total number of foreign students in the UK number at 4,20,000. Another major opportunity for the students is the Chevening scholarships. The students, under this scholarship, would be eligible for a completely-funded masters' degree program of 1 year duration.
Explaining further, an official was quoted as "This has expanded in India by four times and from next year onwards we will be offering more than 150 Chevening scholarships for India which would be the largest for any country,"
