Brickwork Finance Academy offers Foreign Exchange Risk Management session at its campus in Kalena Agrahara, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore on November 17, 2012.
"Without protections, volatile currency rate movements can turn a profitable deal into a dead loss" ... John Price
Large number of Indian companies lost money while dealing with exotic derivatives that have known in and knock out features. A few companies based in Tirupur, the textile capital of India, almost lost their hard earned net-worth over decades. The companies alleged misspelling and sought relief from the courts. Axis Bank vs. Rajashree Sugars is a case study that brings out how these transactions were structured.
Managing currency fluctuations is critical for organizations operating in a global economic environment. The role of a Treasurer is no longer one of the functions carried out by the accounting team of a firm, but a function that requires expertise and top management involvement and monitoring. Financial markets are continuously evolving, and new products, new mechanisms of operating introduced often. It is important that a finance manager keeps up to date with all the developments in the international financial markets and uses new and innovative products to effectively manage the firms' foreign exchange exposure.
As a part of its series on Corporate Risk Management, Brickwork Finance Academy will be conducting a session on Foreign Exchange Risk Management to specifically look at important aspects of the foreign exchange risk management process and the various instruments available for hedging such exposures.
The session is a part of promoting financial literacy and discussions amongst interested professionals and will be conducted by renowned Financial Expert and Author Prof. Shankar Jaganathan.
