CBSE successfully conducted the class 12 bio exam on April 5, 2017 across the nation. Biology is one of the main subjects for the students from science stream particularly for those who wish to pursue their career as a doctor.
Science students have to choose between math and biology in class 12 and those who wish to be engineer chose math and those who wish to be in the medical field chose biology. Keeping future prospect aside, biology is generally considered more easy and scoring in comparison to the mathematics which is why many students opt for the subject.
Student's reaction on this year biology exam
Students from Apeejay School found the paper lengthy. The questions in the exam were straight out of the CBSE text book, most of the candidates found themselves unable to complete the entire exam on time. Some students even skipped few questions. A value based question was quite tricky which confused the students. The question was of four marks. However, still the overall evaluation to the exam was given easy.
Tricky part of the paper: Value based question from section D
It is commonly observed that parents feel embarrassed to discuss freely with their adolescent children about sexuality and reproduction. The result of this parental inhibition is that the children go astray sometimes.
- Explain the reasons that you feel are behind such embarrassment among some parents to freely discuss
such issues with their growing children.
- By taking one example of a local plant and animal, how would you help these parents to overcome such
inhibitions about reproduction and sexuality?
This question is generic and yet relates completely to the syllabus. "I wrote the answer in a general format, it was not based on a specific chapter," a student said.
Although the students attempted the question but since it has no definite answer they are not sure about their response." We were not able to understand the relevance of the question because at one part you are asking about parents and in the second part you are asking about the animals, "elaborates another student. Most students were baffled as they could not understand neither nature of the question nor the marking scheme of it.
