The CBSE is arranging a Cryptic crossword contest for Students of Class IX-XII. It has requested the schools to send in participation details. The CBSE has asked schools to register by getting details on site www.crypticsingh.com. The competition will be held in two phases, a city round and a National round. The contest would begin from April and would continue till December.
The first phase, City round, is to be organised from April to August in selected cities. The few cities have been selected as centres. Schools located in the neighbourhood of the selected cities can also participate in this competition.
The competition would involve two students in each team who will have to solve a puzzle in 60 minutes of time span. Certificates and prizes would be received by the winning team along with the first runner up team.
The second Phase, National round, it will begin with a quarter final where all the qualifying team has to solve a written cryptic crossword puzzle in one hour. The top 16 teams who qualify this contest would be selected for semi-finals. In semi-final round teams would be placed in four groups. They would be given a task to participate in an onstage cryptic crossword contest of one hour duration based on a power point format.
The teams of the students who clear this round will participate in the final round. Here, top teams from each semi-final and the two best runner-ups compete.
The winners and runner-ups of the national level round will be awarded cash along with trophies, participation and winning certificates.
