AHMEDABAD: The students of the Gujarat University might have to wait slightly longer to get their hands on their results. The Gujarat University has hired an agency to make the final results list. But unfortunately, it has pointed out discrepancies in awarding marks on answer sheets, and that has resulted in late publication of the results and ultimately this would be delaying the results of GU.
According to the concerned agency, the task is long and tedious and they did not have the requisite manpower enough to verify each and every answer sheet within the given time. The agency has presented this case before the Gujarat University vice chancellor.
A few days back, a show cause notice was issued to the agency by the Gujarat University showing concern about the delay in declaration of the semester I and III results of B.A and B.Com courses.
The GU has now decided to take action against the professors who have made errors in summing marks. They will be held accountable for the mistakes in total marks given to examinees, as the marks allotted to the candidates will stick by them for their entire life, and it will create a huge difference in their professional life.
In the response made by the agency, they pointed out errors both in total marks on answer sheets as well as in summing marks on individual questions. As the agency is supposed to check all totals before preparing the final results, it came in the light spot.
This kind of issue isn't new for Gujarat University. In the gold medal scam in the Gujarat University, three Third Year B.Com students were found to have increased their marks through back door deals with agency employees and the police had arrested three employees of Shree Computer Agency.
Post that episode, the University decided not to be entirely dependent on the hired agency for the final mark sheets, and held that tabulation will first be made by the faculties and in the end, the agency will also prepare a similar sheet for final mark sheets, to be displayed for the candidates to check their respective results.
