DIT University, formerly known as Dehradun Institute of Technology, soon after coming into existence has decided to go for a series of Corporate Social Responsibility activities. First in this direction, the University, on Friday, organized a student visit to Bal Vanita Ashram, home for orphans, situated at Tilak road. Recognizing the need to raise educational aspirations in these children as early as possible, the visit aimed at encouraging children to consider higher education as an option in later life.
A group of students from the institute, accompanied by the staff, interacted with the inmates of the orphanage and shared their experiences with them. In addition to this, the students also motivated the children to go for higher studies and provided them guidance on taking up new assignments in engineering, medical and humanities. The students also spent the day having recreational sessions with the children which were thoroughly enjoyed by both.
The ashram which is home for more than 55 orphans has children going to various schools and colleges. Ashram secretary, Mr. OP Nangia welcomed this initiative taken up by the University and asked the students to keep extending their support to the organisation in future also.
