In a decision made by the Delhi Government, education Minister
Manish Sisodia said that ECCE Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Centres
will start in Delhi soon.
The minister said in the era which we live in is quite demanding
and in order to cope up with the growing demands the government is planning to
start Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Centres will start in Delhi.
There would be almost 3,000 ECCE Centres across Delhi, announced
the minister. The major objective of these 3000 centres would be to prepare
2.5-3 Lakhs children for schools over 3 years.
Setting up 3000 centres would take time hence the government is
coming up with 10 centres on pilot basis in one month. These 10 centres would
be specifically be opened in the slum clusters and unauthorized colonies. The
minister added that this help the children living in the slum clusters to
prepare for the school.
Though there are playways and nursery classes in the name of
childhood education, but they lack the broader concept of early childhood care,
said the minister.
Children in the ECCE centres would be taught through plays,
activities and games. Help would be taking from societies and experts for running
these centres, added the minister.
