A teen named Lijo from Kerala posted a post its Facebook profile which re-ignited the debate on the reservation system in educational institutes in the nation. Lijo in his Facebook post mentioned that he has taken up the farming to earn the livelihood as he was unable to get the admission into the college despite the fact that he scored 79.9 percent marks in Higher Secondary Examination.
He further mentioned that he has taken up the farming as candidates, which scored as low as 50 percent marks in the exams were given admissions into the colleges. For the un-justice happen to him, he blamed the cast based reservation system of the nation.
In his Facebook post he stated that marks are no longer the criteria for getting admission into the colleges and what matters is the applicants cast and power in terms of money.
He stated ”When I was going through the admission process I learned that my marks are not the definitive criteria for getting a seat in college, the key criteria for getting admission are reservation and money power. As I donʼt have either I am suffering”.
The teenager concluded the post by saying that he is not angry with anyone and that he like the smell of the earth but there is a need to rethink the reservation system in the nation to which many people responded that if reservations were not there then they wouldn't have been able to change their stars.
