GIA (Gemological Institute of America) co-hosted a special seminar with the Mumbai Alumni Chapter on "Growing Intelligent Brands through Social Media." Nipun Kapoor, COO of WAT Consult, presented effective ways to use the digital space to grow brand presence. The event was held at the Institute's Mumbai campus in the Bandra Kurla Complex. The presentation underscored the evolution of social media platforms, their dynamics and changing audience. Kapoor shared the mistakes many companies make when first entering the digital landscape and how to avoid them. She also demonstrated how brands of any size can leverage social media through innovative, yet simple strategies. Kapoor is known for her in-depth digital experience with luxury brands across India, including Inglot and Vera Moda, as well as her role conceptualizing eOmega, the country's first online perception and reputation engine. "Social media is continually expanding, with shifting audiences and interests along the way," said Manoj Singhania, education director of GIA in India and the Middle East. "We're thankful Nipun was able to lend her expertise to GIA alumni looking to incorporate online strategies in their gem and jewellery businesses."
