According to the central HRD Minister, Smriti Irani, the government is making holistic plans for modernization and strengthening of all the madrasas present in the country.
Speaking at a function at the Jamia Milia Islamia University, Irani said that her ministry has already taken a number of steps in this regard.
She was present at the prestigious university to address the gathering on the national symposium on "Educating and Mainstreaming of Indian Muslims".
Among the dignitaries present in the audience was Zafar Sareshwala, the recently appointed Chancellor of MANUU (Maulana Azad National Urdu University). The symposium was presided over by Talat Ahmad, the Vice Chancellor of Jamia.
During her speech, the HRD minister spoke about significance of character building among the students.
She said that education can't be complete without creating a strong character and a feeling of service towards the nation and its people, especially those who are living at the lowest rung of the society.
