Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said "No new private colleges will be given grant-in-aid and these colleges must generate their own resources."
While attending the annual function of MLSM College in Sundernagar, he said "Government will only continue to give grant-in-aid to the listed colleges."
He also said that the issue of financial assistance to the listed colleges is under the consideration of Educational Department and the decision on the matter will be taken soon.
He further" The colleges which are in the list and getting grant-in-aid would not be left out and taken care of, he added, that though government cannot change rules, certain relaxations could be given under special circumstances."
Further he stressed on the need of maintaining discipline and academic atmosphere. He warned that the students who indulge themselves in hooliganism and violence will not be tolerated by the academic institutions and vice chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University has been given orders to rusticate such students.
He further mentioned that the government had imposed ban on election in educational institutions in state, particularly in colleges and university campuses and this will help in maintaining peace on campuses.Students must build character and study hard in order to achieve excellence and to contribute in building a strong nation.
