Lack of teachers in schools has always been a major concern for our education system. Now, a similar story has emerged in Karnataka.
According to District knowledge process for education (DISE), 1,767 schools haven't any lecturers at all, at the same time 5,503 have only one and 14,667 have simply two. 5 educational districts have greater than 100 schools with zero academics: Kalaburgi (168), Bengaluru South (112) Tumakuru, Chikkamangaluru (104 each and every) and Mysuru (one zero one).
Whilst the prescribed ratio for instructor-student is 1:35, nearly 21,947 out of the 75,489 faculties, including the non government education institutes, in Karnataka have just two or fewer lecturers.
The state's principal secretary for education, Ajai Seth said: "In lots of circumstances, that is due to the fact that of drop in enrolment which enables us to move teachers to areas where there are more students. Also the rule that we have got to have one college for each kilometre has resulted in various small faculties (in phrases of students)." As for zero-instructor faculties, he said: "These colleges that have no pupils should not right away shut down, we look ahead to a year or two and if the enrolment stays the equal, we shut them. But it does not imply we preserve sending our academics to varsities and not using scholars."
Educationist Mohandas Pai stated: "There wants to be quite a lot of consolidation. You cannot try to have one tuition for each kilometre. It's like pronouncing we need one tuition for each and every district. It would not really work. A lot of faculties with such few teachers have to even have low student populace as a number of them are now migrating to different faculties."
"That is seeing that the vacancies allowed had been centered on years when enrolment was excessive. Nevertheless, from 2001-2011 the agricultural populace has grown most effective 7% even as the urban populace has grown 34%. So there are various faculties the place we don't have teachers." Pai additionally stated that 50% of main college kids enrolled within the state are with exclusive schools and this is expected to broaden. "The same with other categories," he said.
If we wish to achieve our aim of a cent percent literacy rate, this situation needs to change rather quickly throughout the country.
