The Union HRD minister was today asked about the efforts made by the central government to improve the state of education of the differently abled citizens.
Her reply is summed up here. The HEPSN (Higher Education for Persons with Special Needs) scheme is currently being implemented by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
This is essentially aimed at giving birth to an environment in the institutes of higher education in order to boost the learning experience for the persons from differently-abled category. A number of different assistances have been planned under this scheme.
These assistances include acquiring equipments to further enhance the learning of the differently-abled citizens, creating new awareness regarding the capabilities and talents of the differently abled citizens, construction activities to further enhance the accessibility and many more.
This critical information was put forward by the Union Human Development Minister, Smriti Irani, in the Rajya Sabha.
