NEW DELHI: A five-member working committee has been set up by the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry to evaluate and review the University Grants Commission (UGC) fellowships.
The fellowships in fray are the National Eligibility Test (NET) based junior research fellowship, in addition to the non-NET ones. The ministry stated that it is currently revisiting the present research structure, along with the opportunities, quality and output associated with the programme. The committee is expected to submit its findings by December 2015.
Former Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Gautam Baruah would lead the panel. Other members of the panel include Central University of Gujarat vice-chancellor Syed Bari, Central University of Himachal Pradesh vice-chancellor Kuldeep Agnihotri and Karnataka State Women's University vice-chancellor Meena Rajiv Chandawarkar.
