As per
the results of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) (held in
November and December last year) James John Britto of Chennai topped the
country.
He is 23
years old and managed to secure first rank with 74.38% (595/800) in the final
exams. Second and third were- Nagula Mohan Kumar from Tirupati with 71.50%
(572/800) and Aninash Sancheti with 70.75% (566/800).
CA final
exams are held twice a year with students qualifying two groups, as then only
he/she can become a chartered accountant.
Due to the above criteria, overall pass
percentage of students who appeared in both groups in the final exams is 5.75%,
(which is low as compared to other exams). Students who appeared for the first
group have secured 12.61% pass and that of group 2 secured 11.99%.
Britto
said that this was his first attempt and he appeared for both groups
simultaneously while in intermediate, he had given separate exams for two groups.
His
family background is also education related as his father is a chartered
accountant, and his elder brother is a physician.
He said
that he wants to join a company but not sure which one it has to be, either
manufacturing or IT.
