INDORE
Six new IIMs were announced in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab in the budget last year. The academic sessions in these Institutes were to begin from 2015 itself.
As all the proposed IIMs are still being developed as most of them still do not have their own campus. This has led to a delay in the admission process.
Prof Rohit Kapoor, convener, CAT 2014 said that "There is no clarity on number of seats that will be opened for admission in proposed IIMs" as the proposed intake in these IIMs has not been declared.
The weightage to academic profile, work experience, gender diversity and CAT 2014 cut-off percentile has also not been announced yet.
The IIM, Udaipur (IIM-U) has been given the responsibility to coordinate the admission process of the six new IIMs at Kashipur, Ranchi, Raipur, Rohtak, Trichy and Udaipur. The personal interviews and written ability tests have already initiated by the IIM-U. However the admission procedure for these institutions is still unclear.
The cities in which these new institutes will be set up are still in consideration.
.The director of IIM-Indore Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan informed that a proposal has been put forth in this regard.
According to the Union government the established IIMs will mentor each proposed IIM.
"Few mentor IIMs have proposed to commence academic activities from their campuses to promote the proposed IIMs," according to the director of IIM-Indore, Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan.

The delays in the entire setting up of the IIMs and the admission procedures have affected the candidates, who have scored well and wish to pursue MBA from one of the IIMs.
