Indian Institute of Technology-Raipur, a government engineering college campus was inaugurated by Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar.
Inaugurating the IIT, Javadekar said "the institute will have its own campus by the time its first batch of students pass out."
Mr. Javadekar also interacted with the children from the maoist affected areas of the Chhattisgarh.
Mr. Javadekar interacted with the children at the Prayas Avasiya Vidhyalaya run under the Mukhyamantri Bal Bhavishya Suraksha Yojana.
Students from the maoist affected areas who scored the merit are given coaching here for free for various competitive exams in medical and engineering streams.
Appreciating the Prayas Avasiya Vidhyalaya, an initiative of the Chhattisgarh government, Javadekar said: "It is a successful and meaningful example of imparting quality education to all, especially those who come from the disadvantaged sections of society."
He also said the school was transforming the lives of children from Maoist-affected areas.
