Two students from Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT) Delhi, have created an improved version of Solar E-rickshaw which is currently being used in the city.
At a college Fest, Vikram Pratap Singh and Taranpreet Singh, the students of NSIT, Delhi formulated the improved version of the E-rickshaw. As they were presenting a prototype for an electric bicycle, they thought about the improvements that could be made to the existing E-rickshaw as developing this kind of transport mode for the daily travelers will be helpful and innovative.
These are solar powered e-rickshaw which relies on renewable energy from the sun. This improved version has nine solar panels fitted at different angles because of which it allows the maximum amount of sunlight to charge them at a good speed. Another advantage is that solar e-rickshaw gives 50 percent more mileage than a normal e-rickshaw existing. It consists of four lead acid batteries with both batteries and solar panels which produce as many as 360-watt power. Another big advantage is that the cost of this solar e-rickshaw will be around Rs. 1.2 lacs.
While speaking to a reporter, Vikram Pratap Singh told, "I was at a college Fest with my professor presenting a model of an electric bicycle when it occurred to me that Delhi as a city was in dire need of a clean energy automobile to help ease its pollution woes. Speaking with rickshaw drivers in the city, my idea grew more certain. But it was after long conversations with e-rickshaw drivers in the city that gave me the idea to make a solar powered e-rickshaw for Delhi. Many have created solar rickshaws, but our technology is not just affordable, but also efficient. We have already patented it, but our dream remains to create an automobile that runs exclusively on solar energy and reaches an energy efficiency of at least 25-30 percent. The Delhi government has announced so many measures from vacuum cleaning the roads to the odd-even policy. But we believe vehicles driven by renewable energy can really be a game changer in the city."
This duo has won many accolades for their innovative ideas that are helpful to the society as well. For more such news on new innovations and updates, take a halt at Brainbuxa.
