India is one of the leading tea producers in the world. However, there is not a single global tea brand with Indian roots. Almost all our quality teas are exported, repackaged under top brands and made available to us at retail shelves at approximately 10 times the price. To break this vicious circle, Snigdha Manchanda's Tea Trunk works with both producers and consumers of quality tea in India. It interacts with consumers through initiatives like tea appreciation workshops for advocacy and builds awareness on the benefits of good quality tea. Snigdha is working on consolidating Indian expertise in tea growing, curing and cultivation with local tea estates and governments, and starting a much-needed Indian tea school.
