Jharkhand education minister Neera Yadav told the state
assembly on Tuesday that smart classes in government schools will be introduced
in a phased manner.
Smart class was introduced in 203 Kasturba Gandhi
Residential Girls Schools and there are plans to introduce the same in other
schools in a phased manner.
BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan had asked that whether the
government has any plan to bring the standard of education between government
and private schools on par. Neera countered the question by announcing the plan
of introducing smart classes across the government schools for students to
access an interactive learning environment and not feel deprived of the latest
technologies in imparting education.
Neera appealed all MLAs to adopt one government school each
and added that the standard of education in government schools was improving
under the leadership of chief minister Raghubar Das.
The idea of all MLAs adopting one government school each
sounds good indeed if it is taken up seriously as it would lead to a mechanism
for accountability in case a school underperforms.
