KOLKATA: The Learning Pageant of The Future Foundation
School was inaugurated by well-known sociologist, Prof. SurendraMunshi, in the presence
of newly appointed Consulate General of France in Kolkata, Damien Syed, here on
Friday.
Based on educational philosophies promoted by Sri Aurobindo
Ghosh and Mother Teresa, the pageant showcases the school's unique teaching
methodologies with a goal to build a student's all round abilities.
Prof Munshi was intrigued by the holistic approach towards
teaching at the school, and said that the students were lucky to be a part of
an institution that combines academics with spirituality and at the same time
focuses on physical development.
Opening his speech in Bengali, which drew in loud cheers
from the crowd, Damien Syed pointed out that Bengali and French share a deep
rooted cultural connection. He said that The Foundation School is the 1st
in Asia to incorporate French as its 2nd language. The school is
also the 1st school in Kolkata to get a NABET certification.
The school has very meticulously transformed from a
teacher-controlled to a teacher-facilitated learning system, making education
really fun. This has taken years of cultivation of integral and holistic
education system.
Principal Ranjan Mitter mentioned how in the early days of
the school, the parents used to be puzzled when they asked their kids what they
did in school, and the reply they received was "we went to the garden". So it became a big reason for parents to
wonder what their kids were actually learning. So they came up with an idea of
starting a pageant, put up by the students themselves. In this pageant, the
parents can witness the curriculum and methodology of teaching, right from
class 1 to 8.
