In the wake of the recent crisis of Mumbai University regarding declaring the results, Maharashtra Governor and University Chancellor Ch Vidyasagar Rao directed the vice chancellor that the results of all winter exams should be declared within 30 days after conducting the exam and in any case the timeline should not exceed the 45 days, as mandated by the Public Universities Act.
Rao also directed the university to declare the results of the 11,981 candidates on top priority. The results of these students have been reserved by the university.
He further added that the re-evaluation of the answer sheets should be done in timely manner.
This year the university received 46,806 applications for re-evaluation.
The meeting also reviewed the preparations made by the University for the winter exams which are scheduled to be held between November 8 and December 20.
Devendra Fadnavis said that the results made by the university in this year's summer exam should not be repeated in the winter examinations.
“The invigilators should be trained. The University of Mumbai is a very prestigious university and therefore every effort should be made to further enhance its reputation,” he said.
During the meeting the issue of academic audit and financial health of the University was also discussed in detail. The review of the process of conducting exams, evaluating the answer sheets and declaring results was also done in the meeting.
