'SAMMAAN' the documentary made by students of MassCoMedia has won the best Documentary (student) at Dada Saheb Phalke film festival 2012,which was held at Steller Gymkhana, Greater Noida. More than 237 entries were submitted, consisting both national and international entries from students as well as professionals. The other participants from all categories were from eminent institutions like Cambridge University, F.T.I.I. (Pune), Balaji telefilms, The Name academy and many more.
The documentary SAMMAAN was based on an NGO named Pehal Foundation situated at Faridabad. The NGO caters to the Gay and Transgender community. The documentary portraits their efforts to find a position and identity in the society with their works.
The documentary was made by a group of students of B.Sc Second year. The director of the documentary was Nandita Anand, Camera and Editing was done by Vishal Bawa , voice-over of the documentary was given by Tapanshu , Navnitesh Singh did the scripting and Rahul Srivastava helped in the management. It was made under the expert guidance of Dr. Ritu Dubey tiwari, Senior Faculty of MassCoMedia.
