The campus of Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences On Kanpur road had a deserted look after CBI raided the institute. The institute was raided by the CBI as it was trying to manipulate the government's decision which barred the institute from admitting new students to the campus.
The institute is located in the Banthra area on Kanpur Road, which is 30 km away from the Lucknow city. The institute's building has academic and administrative sections along with the hospital in an adjacent building. All the classrooms in the institute were locked and no students or faculty member was present in the institute. There were six visitors in the institute and all were the guardians who were seeking refund of their deposits for the academic session 2017-18.
The principal told The Indian Express, “Four members of the MCI team inspected the institute. One of them did not sign for approval, so the institute was not given the certificate. There was a second inspection, which happened even before we were told about the result of the first.”
He further said "first batch of students of the college was admitted only last year. There are 61 students in the batch and they are waiting for examinations".
All the guardians in the institute were from the Andhra Pradesh and were seeking the refund of their deposits.
“We got to know about this institute through a broker. We came here on September 18 and were told that it is blacklisted, but would get all required permissions very soon,” one of the guardians from Vijaywada district said
Guardians did not reveal the name of the person who took money from them. They further told that they were asked to go to a room in the institute building and hand over the amount. They were also told to leave their phones outside the room and were not given any receipt for the deposited amount.
