Some of the biggest lacunas in our education system are the
inconsistent student performance and an increasing school dropout rate. In order
to curb such menaces, the union HRD ministry has planned to come up with the 'Shaala
ASMITA' school which would keep a track of the students' academic progress
along with the school dropout rates.
As per an official, either the Aadhar card number or a
specially generated number for the students would be used to track the progress
of the child.
The complete name of the scheme is All School Monitoring
Individual Tracking and Analysis. The data furnished by the local
administration would be used by the scheme, as per the sources in the ministry.
A ministry was quoted as saying, "The HRD ministry is getting
support of the states for this unique initiative and it is expected that the
scheme will be launched by mid-June,"
Experts hope that accurate data is brought to the fore with
the help of this scheme on a number of programs including the Mid Day Meal
scheme being run in the schools.
The plan for this scheme was announced last month by Smriti
Irani on twitter.
