In order to prevent the level of education in schools from falling any further the Union Cabinet has approved the scrapping of no-detention policy. The same provision will be made in the Right of Children for Free and Compulsory Education Amendment Bill which will allow the states to keep the children in same class if they fail their year end exam.
The bill is now in parliament for approval.
Second chance to be given to the students
However, students will be given second chance to improve their performance via second examination before they are detained in the same class.
Currently, under the provision of RTE students are automatically promoted to the higher classes till class 8.
The government is not only working to improve the education in schools but also, is planning to establish 20 world class institutions in order to improve the higher education.
Few weeks ago, HRD Minister told parliament that guidelines and proposal for 20 world class institutions are ready and would soon receive the go-ahead from the government.
He also said that these institutes will pave the path for the real research and innovation in the country.
