A certificate course in YOGA has been launched by the NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) which aims at creating job opportunities for becoming the yoga teachers.
The course was launched by the Union Minister of State for HRD Upendra Kushwah on the occasion of International Yoga Day on last Wednesday.
About the course
The course is open to Indian and Foreign nationals alike Those who are interested in applying the course must be class 12 passed or have an equivalent certificate from recognized board of school education/university.
Regional Director of NIOS Sanjay Kumar Sinha told PTI that "the course has been launched to expand Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts which helped yoga gain popularity across the world".
Benefits of the course
Sinha said "Those acquiring certificate in yoga course can get jobs as yoga teacher or equivalent in the yoga institutions, yoga centre, health clubs, naturopathy hospitals and schools and colleges".
Course duration is minimum 240 hours.
The course will be offered in two modules- one month residential course and six months course will be in workshop mode.
Giving details of the scheme of study, the NIOS regional director said "while theory would constitute 30 per cent, practical would cover 50 per cent and the rest would be learner's portfolio".
