Different states have come up with different mechanisms to grade and evaluate the performance of their schools. Some of these include Sambalan in Rajasthan, Gujarat's Gunotsav, Pratibha Parv in case of Madhya Pradesh and Shalegagi Navu-Neevu in Karnataka.
The Central Government has taken a step forward by introducing NUEPA (National University of Educational Planning and Administration). Its purpose is to come up with a framework which can be applied to evaluate national schools run by the Government.
The objective behind its formulation is improvement in the school performance. The framework would be based on International comparative experience along with some of the best practices within the country.
