On Wednesday, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations announced their plan to make the digital subject selection tool available to the students which will help them in making informed decisions about their future careers.
"It will help students make informed decision on career paths based on their interests, skills, personality and preferences. The tool would also allow students to explore various occupations to understand what kind of work each involves and what the prospects are," CISCE Chief Executive & Secretary Gerry Arathoon told the media.
However, he added that they have not decided yet at which stage to launch the tool and said that the Council's Research Development and Consultancy Division are currently reviewing the syllabi of Physical education, computer application and economics at the ICSE level and biotechnology at the ISC level to make sure that the students are equipped with the required knowledge and skills.
"They are also engaged in the development of new syllabi for Mass Media and Communication at the ICSE as well as ISC level from academic year 2018-19 onwards. Performing arts for classes 1 to 8, Sanskrit for classes 5 to 8, physical education and yoga for classes 1 to 8... these new subjects are being included from classes 1 to 8 from the academic year 2018-19 onwards".
When asked about the DigiLocker facility, Arathoon said that schools in India are being instructed to capture the Aadhaar number for the candidates whose nationality is Indian.
