The resources needed for the Open text exam , which forms an essential part of the Summative Assessment II of Std IX, and yearly examination of Std XI of CBSE, have been dispatched. The open content based assessment (OTBA) is a piece of the general evaluation for which the material is given straightforwardly by the board, two or three months after the session begins. Students are required to consider the material in subtle element and later answer questions which depend on 'higher order thinking skills' (HOTS).
Schools have been asked to refer to all the details of the program which have been duly uploaded at www.cbseacaemic.in. The open text material will soon be available on the CBSE Academic website as well. The text material will include sample questions and a suggestive marking scheme for teachers to use. An assessment will be done as a whole considering the fact that the application of knowledge that is gained by the students in the unit which will be specified in the syllabus. CBSE has said that teachers must guarantee that the students take in the ideas in related subjects/units and also assessed during formative assessments.
Teachers teaching a particular subject are expected to ensure that each student reads, discusses and analyses the material with regards to the objectives, concepts involved , applications of concepts to the given situations, description and further exploration of the case, problem situation involved, sharpening of the higher order thinking skills and different perspectives. The OTBA is set to be held along with the normal final exam during the summer of next year.
