There was a proposition to transfer 119 acres of the university land from the Magadh University to the New IIM planned in Gaya. However the proposal has been rejected by the Magadh University Syndicate. There was a long debate on the issue. The meeting was presided by MU VC Ishtiaq Ahmad.
The syndicate gave another plan for the allotment of land.
The northern area of the university was requested by the IIM site selection committee. But the Syndicate has agreed for the southern area. Also the Syndicate's proposition doesn't mention the exact area of the land. The area of the land proposed can be known only after the measurement has been done.
The official in charge of the university Sanjay Tiwari also told that the alternative offer that has been made is also conditional and the compensation for the infrastructural loss will be recovered from the IITs. No further details were given.
There is resentment among the Syndicate members for allotting the land to IIM as it will curb the varsity's own growth. The Syndicate has given the assent for the use of DDE building by the IIM for 2 years.
A budget of Rs 658 has been approved for the financial year 2015-16.The total expenditure for the year is Rs 766 crore and hence the deficit of Rs 108 crore will be recovered from the internal sources. The budget covers the finances for the headquarters of the university, 44 constituent and 4 deficit grant minority colleges.
Also some funds will be available to the university by government grants and UGC assistance.
A large portion of the budget will be used up for paying the salaries and the pensions. A very less amount will be left for the development schemes.
Another disturbing fact is that the sanctioned number of teachers for the university is 3,058 but the number of current working teachers is 1500 only.
