For the past couple of years, religious harmony in the country has been hurt badly. A number of attacks on minorities and their religious places have been observed. Amidst all this chaos, a young Muslim girl from Mumbai has set an exceptional example.
The 12 year old Ms. Maryam Asif Siddiqui made headlines when she won the Bhagavad Gita Champions League "“ an event organized by ISKCON.
Inspired by her commendable feat, the PM Narendra Modi called upon the girl to give his blessings. Accompanied by her parents, Shri Asif Naseem Siddiqui and Smt. Farhan Asif Siddiqui, Ms. Maryam went to the PM office to meet Modi.
She is said to have contributed Rs 11,000 each to the PM National Relief Fund and the Swachhta Abhiyan. She was gifted a set of 5 Books on different religions by the Prime Minister.
She is a student of Cosmopolitan High School in Mira Road, Mumbai won the contest from among 4,500 students who appeared for the competition.
She received the first prize in an inter-school competition for explaining the teachings of the holy book.
Maryam said, "It was very interesting to read Bhagwad Gita as I have got a lot of information about life from it. The holy book has taught me the golden rules of life. It says that though there are many religions but humanity is the biggest religion among all,"
Maryam's father was quoted saying, "These kids are the future of our nation. They should not be divided by religions and should be taught to respect all religions. We encouraged Mariam to recite the Gita, though in English, to make her understand the importance of the Mahabharata in Hindu religion. We also wish to teach her about different religions. We are delighted. She prepared a whole month for the contest,"
The English adaptation of the sacred book was given to students for a month for arrangement reason. An educator was likewise delegated to help students comprehend the book in subtle element.
Following a month, a composed examination was held with 100 inquiries.
Asif said he is cheerful and a pleased father as his little girl has demonstrated an unmistakable fascination in perusing a heavenly book of other religion.
