The School Education department’s campaign-
Pratibha Parva, which started yesterday, aims to evaluate the academic
achievements of 78 lakh students from class 1 to 8. The evaluation will be done
in all the 1.14 lakh government-run schools across the state of Madhya Pradesh.
The School Education department has
developed interesting theme-based questions for the evaluation, to analyse the
students in basic and subject-based capabilities. A verification officer has
been designated to authenticate the evaluation in each school. Following the subject
based evaluation of the children on Day 1 and 2 of this campaign, a Bal-Sabha
will be organised as an annual function on Day 3. The Bal-Sabha will showcase cultural, sports and other
activities of the students. The campaign aims to ensure cent percent student
participation in this function. Parents will also be invited to witness the
Bal-Sabha, which concludes the campaign tomorrow.
Steps had been taken to make Pratibha-Parva
evaluation in accordance with international standards and the criterion laid
under National Achievement Survey. A 'sample study' of the Hindi, mathematics,
science and environment studies in classes 3, 5 and 8 was done in cooperation
with UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund). Around 60 primary schools and middle
schools each, in all the districts had been selected for this special study. The
data analysis of students of these sample schools will be undertaken at thestate level by the experts. On the basis of the report
submitted by these experts, the policy decisions will be taken for upgrading
the educational quality in the succeeding years. “A third-party evaluation will
also be made by the UNICEF”, a public relations department official has stated.
